There Are Many Spirits out There, but to Receive the Holy One, We Must Create a Proper Vessel

In today's Christianity, everyone is thinking that he or she is in contact with the Holy Spirit or another form of guidance from a holy institution, for example. But how can we really discern falsehood from truth? Does every healing or miracle come from God? The Tanakh encourages us to scrutinize if a prophet is really speaking truth or falsehood. When a prophet is foretelling something, it must become reality. If the things are not turning out to become true, he cannot be a true prophet of God. When we consider this very simple but important teaching, it would disqualify many prophets of modern Christianity. In the last two centuries it has really become a fashion trend to prophesy the end of the world. But whatever dates those prophets have come up with, when these dates have not become true, it already disqualifies the churches or institutions they have founded.

Jesus has prophesied that many false Christs will come in the end times. 'Christ' means 'anointed one,' so this simply means that there will arrive many false prophets and leaders who claim that they stand in the authority of God. When we approach the spiritual path, it can be a thin line between really entering upper worlds or just losing oneself in a world of fantasy and imagination. How can we discern truth from falsehood in ourselves and others? Real spiritual experiences mostly come when we don't expect them. They're not something that we can coerce through willpower. God only comes to us when we become receptive, like a clean, pure vessel. Only a solid, prepared vessel can hold the light of God. When we want to build up a true vessel, we must walk in the moral teachings of the Bible. Faith without works is dead (James 2:17). Works without faith are useless. Without works, we won't be able to receive the light of wisdom, and with works alone without the proper spirit, we create more chaos than order in the world.

Jesus told us that when our own righteousness won't surpass the righteousness of the Pharisees, we won't have any chance to enter the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is not a mere place that we're awaiting in the future, but it is the hidden spiritual reality. This reality can be felt only if we master creating a proper vessel for it. The law of the higher reality is 'Love thy neighbor as thyself,' while the law that is governing our world is the love of oneself alone. Only through the love of our fellow man will we become able to receive a spirit of holiness.
