The path we choose determines us, instead, that we would determine the path. The path has chosen someone, before he himself thinks, that he has chosen it. While being in the spiritual progress it is important, that our consciousness is directed towards the goal as sharp as a laser beam. Every day I study the same books again and again, or I practice the same meditation techniques again and again. True spirituality needs perseverance. A good musician must practice every day the same patterns of notes again and again, one who wants to become a master of martial arts must find his order of discipline.
In Kabbalah, it is much more difficult, because we dig into the domain of the mind. And the mind is not visible to us, but despite has the most enormous powers. Our thoughts can be more dangerous than the atomic bomb, if treated falsely. There are many spiritual paths out there, and we have to choose one, because one who hunts after two bunnies will catch no one as it's said. Our mind and thinking will then function more and more as a vehicle for the path, and less for what our ego wants. True spirituality means, can I follow a path without the expectation to receive anything in return? Because when we do so we serve another lord, but not God.
Only one of thousand will be worthy to finally stay at the palace of God, which is the palace of Binah — the attribute of complete bestowal, with absolute no desire anymore to receive something for oneself. Only one who passes the test of becoming a true giver, will be worthy of the unity with God.
